PRIMARY DUTY: Northwest Missouri State University is seeking a highly effective and motivated exercise sciences faculty member who will collaboratively support the development and delivery of undergraduate and graduate academic programs in Applied Health Sciences and related areas. Potential course assignments include Physiology of Exercise, Socio-Psycho Aspects of Human Performance, Evidence Based Practice in Health Science or other health, physical education, or exercise science coursework commensurate with qualifications. Supervise student research projects. A preference for general knowledge and experience in health and human performance. This campus-based position is scheduled to begin in August 2024.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Teaching: Faculty will manage and deliver courses that support the applied health sciences, physical education, public health, and related degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level Faculty teach a 4/4 load (24-26credit hours per academic year (Fall and Spring) Student Support: Student Support activities are an extension of the teaching role and vital to support student success, retention, and recruitment Faculty advise undergraduate and graduate students, mentor students in research and service, and advise student organizations Service to the division, college, and university: Service activities are necessary for the functioning of the School and the University - active participation by all faculty members supports the integrity of various processes, including shared governance and curriculum as well as student recruitment and retention Scholarship: Participate in scholarly activity in academic field, including presentation and publication of research Scholarship criteria for tenure and promotion are defined in terms of the format, audience, and rigor of the process Perform other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Terminal degree; At least one graduate degree in health, kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field is required; ABD candidates will be considered
Certification/License: CSCS or the ability to earn the CSCS certification within two years from initial contract date; Additional certifications welcome (K12 Health/PE teacher certification; ACSM; ACE; ATC; CHES; etc.)
Experience: Evidence of at least 1 year of successful college level teaching as a primary instructor
Skills: Competency in the use of Canvas or other similar Learning Management Systems; Evidence of potential for success in student support and scholarship, well as professional service, leadership, and advocacy; Positive interpersonal communication; organizational skills; a collaborative approach to work and classroom instruction; Skills operating exercise science laboratory and testing equipment (e.g. DARI motion analysis, DXA, metabolic testing, force platform, Dynavision D2)
WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical office and classroom environment. This is an on-campus position.



EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Typical teaching tools in a classroom environment; Ability to utilize Microsoft Office software, document cameras, projectors, etc.



TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Typical office environment with the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
