Job summary
This position reports directly to the Golf Superintendent.Under the superintendent's supervision, the assistant directs and participates in the maintenance of all golf course features, equipment, and facilities.The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the Golf Superintendent's capacity in the event of their absence.

Responsibilities
• Assist in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, etc.• Assist in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and personnel discipline• Schedule and supervise the employees and their designated tasks/use of equipment.• Assist in the programming, repair, and maintenance of irrigations systems.• Perform or supervise the implementation of an overall turf health program. This includes aeration, topdressing, and the application of pesticides, fertilizer, & chemicals to golf course turf.• Operate an assortment of golf course equipment, including but not limited to: mowers, utility vehicles, sweepers, brooms, rollers, rakes, utility vehicles, loaders, compressors, trenchers, automobiles, etc.• Mow golf course turf and perform daily course setup duties.• Maintain and repair golf course equipment.• Trim and remove trees and brush.• May perform other duties and responsibilities on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
• High School diploma or its equivalent.• 2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field, like agronomy, horticulture, plant science, soil science).• A minimum of 1 year of experience as an Assistant Golf Superintendent or related experience and/or training preferred.• Valid Driver's License• Pesticide Application License
Key Skills Needed
• Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways and roughs.• Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work.• Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.• Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments.• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences.• Must be able to work independently and take initiative.• Good organizational and leadership skills, attention to detail and openness to new ideas and procedures.
