Job Title Assistant Director: Difference, Power, and Oppression (Internal Employment Opportunity)

Appointment Type Professional Faculty

Job Location Corvallis

Benefits Eligible Full-Time, benefits eligible

Remote or Hybrid option? Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity The Difference, Power, and Oppression Program, is seeking an Assistant Director. This is a full-time (1.00FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Difference, Power, and Oppression Program (DPO), contributes to the university's social justice mission by working with faculty across all fields and disciplines to create inclusive curricula that address intersections of gender, race, class, sexual identity, age, ability, and other institutionalized systems of inequity and privilege in the United States. DPO courses are a part of the University's Baccalaureate Core Curriculum and new Core Education Curriculum, and as such, all OSU undergraduate students complete a minimum number of DPO credits as part of fulfilling their general education requirements. In addition to providing faculty with educational opportunities and resources to enable the re-visioning of course content and classroom practices, such that issues of difference, power, and oppression is addressed; the DPO Program also contributes to the creation and nurturing a sustainable community within OSU where faculty, students, and staff can gain in-depth understanding of social inequities and become empowered to contribute to the ongoing transformation of OSU in service of institutional inclusivity and equity.

Under the direction of the DPO Director, the Assistant Director of DPO will manage the operations, provide support, and contribute to the growth and development of the DPO Program through faculty development, curriculum design and delivery, and one-on-one faculty consultations. The Assistant Director will also work closely with the DPO Director, Assessment Coordinator, and the Core Education Committee on the assessment of DPO courses, as well as program outcomes. The Assistant Director will be present to help represent the DPO Program on the Faculty Senate Baccalaureate Core Committee, and the Diversity Council as needed and directed by the DPO Director.

The Assistant Director works collaboratively and interacts with programs, departments, faculty, staff, Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), and the Core Education Director. This position will collaborate and interact with DPO projects and

missions. With the recent approval of the new Core Education curriculum, which replaces a 30-year-old curriculum, faculty will use their unique expertise to align to the university established learning outcomes, develop robust course offerings, and create policy and processes. This curriculum recognizes the value of aligning with Oregon's Core

Transfer Map – which facilitates seamless transfer among Oregon higher education institutions and creates a distinctive and high-quality foundation for OSU's degree offerings.

The OAA works to promote and improve the quality of academic programs and student success at Oregon State University (OSU), which is a critical element of the university's Strategic Plan. Within the OAA, the DPO Program is a faculty resource offering DPO expertise to meet the needs of all faculty. The DPO Program collaborates closely with the colleges and faculty to implement discipline-specific programming, integrating evidence based, data-driven, and current research informed services with the goal of improving DPO teaching, learning outcomes, and creating high-impact practices.
