Assistant Director of Golf Operations
Golf Course in Browns Summit, North Carolina is looking for an Assistant Director of Golf Operations.
Position Overview:
Help oversee the day-to-day operations of the PGA Section office including membership administration, coordination of the Super Show (annual meeting & merchandise show) and other member education seminars, assist with the administration of chapter events, tournaments, teaching seminars, etc., serve as the liaison to multiple committees and support other departments as needed. The position reports directly to the Director of Operations and will serve out of the Carolinas PGA Section office located at the Golf Course complex in Greensboro, NC.
Primary Responsibilities:
1.Membership: The position will manage all membership-related requirements and inquiries. These duties include processing Member Change forms, welcome letters, dues reminders, scheduling and administrating Playing Ability Tests, issuing Professional Development Requirement credits, and administering the Section Membership Survey.
2.Membership Committee Liaison: Serve as the staff liaison to the Membership Committee. Create and distribute a monthly list of all membership changes & transfers to the committee. Work with the Membership Committee to resolve incorrect/disputed classifications.
3.Associate Education Committee Liaison: Assist Associates in their path to membership including support progressing through each level and PAT assistance as needed.
4.Super Show: The Super Show is a three-day event featuring an awards dinner, annual meeting, educational seminars, and a regional merchandise show with 200+ vendor booths. The Assistant Director of Operations will administer the CPGA booth on-site including issuing PDR credit, accepting scorecards, and answering inquiries. The Assistant Director of Operations will assist with registration, PDR tracking, planning and executing informal education seminars, and various additional tasks.
5.Education: Assist with member education opportunities including webinar series, and several in-person opportunities. Promote PGA certifications and specializations.
6.Chapter Events: Assist with administering chapter meetings, tournaments, education, and teaching seminars.
7.Tournaments: Assist at various assigned Section tournaments to help with event set up, partnership/sponsor activation, starting, rules, scoring, etc.
8.PGA REACH: Assist with Drive, Chip, & Putt, PGA, Jr. League, PGA HOPE, REACH Pro-ams, etc. as needed.
9.Facility Management: Assist the Director of Operations with scheduling routine maintenance, office repairs, vehicle management, etc.
10.Other Duties as Assigned: The CPGA currently has a full-time staff of twelve employees and multiple seasonal interns, so each employee will cross-train and provide support for co-workers.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) required, preferably in Sport Management, PGA Golf Management or related field.
PGA Member or Associate preferred, but not required.
Candidate must have a passion for the game of golf. Participation in the game is a plus.
Experience in Association Management.
Skills in oral, written, and interpersonal communications, including public speaking.
Skills in planning and organizing, event management and managing multiple priorities.
Strong moral character and unquestionable integrity.
Knowledge of the golf industry and PGA of America activities, programs and governance.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and a creative mindset.
Ability to travel mostly within the CPGA geographic boundaries and work some nights, weekends and/or holidays. The estimated amount of travel days spent on the road is 35-45 per year.
Positive and upbeat personality, high-energy individual.
Proficient computer skills including familiarity with G Suite by Google, MS Office Suite of products and the ability to quickly become literate on PGA Section Management Systems (SMS)/Member 360, MailChimp, Workday, and BlueGolf Tournament Management System.
Ability to present self in a professional manner and appearance.
Team player motivated by the success of the organization over any personal gain.
Ability to manage and motivate other team members and direct reports.
Preferred three years of golf or sports administration experience, preferably within the PGA or allied golf association.
