Job Description:
The Assistant Director for External Engagement will report to the Executive Director for the LSU Institute for Energy Innovation (IEI), and will support the Executive Director and Associate Director for Community Engagement. The Assistant Director will provide overall support for IEI's internal grant-making, external grant applications, and management of public engagement programs including annual conference, round tables, speaker series, and other educational engagement opportunities. The Assistant Director will follow developments in energy innovation to help shape IEI's strategic direction and identify areas of opportunity for IEI research, grant-making, and development of educational materials.
Job Responsibilities:
Support the Institute for Energy Innovation's Broader Research and Program Agenda by helping to ensure strategic oversight and continuity of IEI grants and projects; manage development projects for educational material; work with IEI leadership to develop areas of pursuit and projects in line with IEI's mission; conduct research as needed to support IEI projects and activities, including briefings on current events, key stakeholders, and emerging issues; lead independent writing and research initiatives to support IEI's thought leadership on key energy policy and sustainability issues; research and writing related to reports and other short-form publications on advancing IEI initiatives; Support day-to-day management of partnerships and support IEI leadership at meetings with partners; cultivate, maintain, and develop a wide network of crucial stakeholder relationships related to IEI's programming in coordination with LSU's Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) and the LSU Foundation; independently manage projects, including financial management, and related operational and administrative tasks, and engage with partners and stakeholders with minimal direct oversight; support the program's content development including editing and proofreading of external publications such as annual reports, op-eds, research reports, and broader communications efforts, including managing basic regular website updates (65%)
Regular newsletter updates for our audience on the program's activities; monitor news and analysis to inform the program's ongoing work, business development/fundraising, and specific projects as needed; manage program contacts and other shared files and knowledge in the program, including leveraging Microsoft Office, Box, CRM and other systems. (30%)

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 3 years experience; valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years experience; Experience in organizing and staging events is highly desired; proven track record working efficiently both independently and collaboratively with a tight-knit team; willingness to learn new systems and processes and volunteer for new challenges; experience with university procurement, contracting, and Human Resource Management (HRM) systems & requirements; experience with Workday; proficiency with any combination of the following: creative software tools, web editing, Microsoft Office applications; advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships across a wide variety of audiences.
