Assistant Controller with a privately-held company. Summary The Assistant Controller reports to the VP/Controller and will be an integral contributor to the Company's accounting functions, including monthly accounting and ledger close cycle, financial reporting, internal control, and business process documentation. Responsibilities Supervise a team of 3-5 staff members, providing staff development and performance feedback in a professional manner and in accordance with company guidelines. Perform required G/L account reconciliations, including balance sheet and income statement accounts. Assist VP, Controller in establishing internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements and in conformance and compliance with U.S. GAAP and other statutory requirements. Participate in various U.S. statutory tax requirements, such as income, real and personal property, franchise, value-added taxes, and sales and use taxes, as requested. Assist with the annual financial audit, preparing schedules as requested by external auditors, and responding to auditor inquiries. Perform monthly bank account reconciliations for all accounts. Post and review journal entries made by staff accountants during period and annual closes. Manage team workload and responsibilities to ensure deliverables are complete and deadlines are met. Oversee corporate card and expense programs. Serve as administrator for various software applications. Research, review and recommend viable opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline relevant functions of the accounting department and the company. Requirements Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA preferred. Minimum of 6 years of experience in public and/or corporate accounting environment. Experience managing a team of direct reports preferred. System knowledge of large-scale ERP systems. SAP and Hyperion experience preferred. #IND
