Position: Assistant Coach (Men's Basketball) – 2 Open PositionsEffective Date:On or about April 15, 2024 (1-Year Appointment, Renewable)Salary Range:The Coach (12-Month) classification salary is $85,224 to $139,008 per year (paid as 12 monthly payments). The anticipated hiring range is $90,000 to $135,000 per year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.Application Deadline:Review of applications to begin April 1, 2024. Position open until filled (or recruitment canceled).Long Beach State Athletics Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degreePrior athletic participation in basketballDemonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student populationPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulationsExperience in basketball as a player or coach at the college levelDemonstrated ability to assist with coaching and recruiting quality student-athletesComputer experiencePublic relations skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, and excellent organizational skillsDuties:Assist with the development and supervision of the student-athletes in the Men's Basketball program.Assist the program in accordance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, Big West Conference, and University rules, regulations and policiesRecruit student-athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations and academic standards, as well as University requirementsAssist in the planning and coordinating of in-season practices, including team and individual workoutsAssist in the planning and coordinating of out-of-season practices, including individual skill instruction and team workouts, focusing on the development of athletic skills to compete at the Division I levelAssist in monitoring the academics of each of the Men's Basketball student-athletesEffectively communicate with Athletics Academic Advisor to ensure any academic concerns are being addressedAssist with the planning and implementing of game plans, including development of scouting reports of opponentsCoordinate strength and conditioning program with assigned Strength and Conditioning CoachComplete and submit all necessary compliance forms as required and/or requested by the Athletics Compliance Office in a timely mannerSupport all marketing activities of the Department of Athletics for the Men's Basketball programParticipate in fund raising activities for the Men's Basketball program and/or Department of AthleticsCultivate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, media, and friends of the universityPerform computer related tasksPerform other duties as assigned by Head Coach and Sport SupervisorRequired Documentation:A letter of application addressing all required qualifications and any preferred qualificationsResumeThree References (name, address, e-mail address, and telephone numbers)Finalist will be required to provide official transcript from institution awarding highest degreeHow to Apply:Click Apply Now icon to complete the CSULB online applicationRequests for information and questions about the position should be addressed to: Search Committee Chair, E-Mail: ****** Employment Requirements:In accordance with the California State University (CSU) Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU related work outside California.A background check (including a criminal records check and telephone reference check with most recent employer) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
