CLASSIFICATION: 12-month, Part-time, 18 hours/week maximum, 0.45 FTE REPORTS TO: Head Baseball Coach and Director of Athletics DEPARTMENT: Athletics LOCATION: Central Hall | Athletic Fields SUMMARY: The individual in this position will assist with recruiting for the baseball program and work as an assistant coach overseeing pitching or hitting, depending on the expertise of the respective individual. Additionally, the candidate will work to serve the players of the Cornerstone University Baseball program while acting in accordance with the mission of the university.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out certain aspects of the baseball program necessary to accomplish the objectives of the sport within the university, athletic department, WHAC, and NAIA contextsAssist by serving as a contact for recruitsMaintain recruiting database and stay up to date with text/email/phone calls throughout the yearScout tournaments and high school games as neededAssist with coordination of travel arrangements for the teamBooking of hotels/rental housesCommunicating with restaurants for lunch/dinner on game daysSupport head coach by preparing and conducting practices for a specific position group as assignedWrite practice plansStay up-to-date on current coaching/teaching methodsAssist with off-season trainingHelp write lifting programSupervise lifting programOversee speed developmentAssist with oversight of DeWitt Field and the baseball portions of the facility including the locker room, indoor cage, weight room, and officeSeek to build relationships of influence with team members that positively impact their spiritual and personal growth as followers of ChristPerform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree requiredAcceptance into a Cornerstone University Master's Degree programAbility to work well under deadlines and high pressure situationsDemonstrated professional organizational and communication skillsDesire to model the values of Cornerstone UniversityPersonal relationship with Jesus Christ and active Christian commitmentA theology that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University, as evidenced by an ability to affirm and sign the university's doctrinal statement, "The Cornerstone Confession"
