The Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) is located 12 miles west of the OHSU main campus, and sits on 162 acres of land featuring forested areas, research and administration buildings, indoor and outdoor animal housing, a pond, and 2-mile perimeter walking path. Our mission is to improve human health and the quality of life through the support of nonhuman primate research programs that advance our knowledge of the causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of debilitating diseases.
The  Division of Pathobiology & Immunology at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC), Oregon Health & Science University, is seeking to recruit investigators at the  Assistant/Associate Professor level, with expertise in non-human primate (NHP) pre-clinical models of human infectious diseases and/or immunology. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: a) emerging infectious agents, b) development of novel prophylactic and therapeutic modalities for infectious diseases, c) HIV prevention, treatment, cure and coinfection models, d) personalized cell-based therapies, e) genetics and epigenetics of infection, and f) neoplasia. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the Chief of the Division in furtherance of the University's missions and goals of teaching, research, outreach and public service. The successful candidate will complement ongoing research activities and expertise in the Division through programs that aim to advance the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases while strengthening bridges between NHP models and human research.
The appointee will be expected to plan, develop, organize, and direct a fully funded independent research program incorporating the use of NHP models to elucidate fundamental insights into the biological underpinnings of infection, immunity, and pathological disease states. Appointees are expected to independently and effectively direct a research laboratory, seek opportunities for internal and external collaborative research studies, supervise research staff and trainees, publish regularly in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and present/participate in national or international meetings. Teaching obligations include lecturing, mentoring/supervising graduate and/or postgraduate trainees, and participating in ONPRC community outreach activities. Service obligations include participating on academic and service committees at the center, university, and national/international level.
MD, PhD, or DVM degree with postdoctoral training and faculty-level experience in academia and/or industry, with a nationally recognized research program, history of or demonstrated ability to achieve an active grant funding portfolio, and experience in the management of biomedical research programs Candidates should work actively in the broad area of NHP-related research or have a research program that can be readily adapted to include NHPs as a focus within the next three years
