Job Summary: We are excited to search for a leader in early childhood care and learning. The Center Director is the administrative leader of the ETSU's Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development ( CEECLD ) and provides leadership and support for research, extension, and teaching programs essential to the mission and vision of the center.
The position is a full-time, 12-month Director/Administrative position. This position is eligible for appointment at the associate or full professor level and eligible for tenure. The successful candidate for this position will be committed to creating and leading an environment that acknowledges, encourages, respects, and celebrates all. 
The Director's responsibilities include providing overall direction and representation for the Center, managing personnel and budgets, supporting ongoing projects, and developing new initiatives in training, research, and service. They are supported by a dedicated staff.
The Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development, part of the Clemmer College of Education and Human Development, is a highly accomplished institution in its 40th year. It receives partial funding from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and focuses on research, academic training, and model services for typically developing children and those at risk for developmental delays up to age 8 and their families. The Center has substantial external funding and provides support to faculty interested in early childhood learning and development.
East Tennessee State University is a state-assisted and Carnegie-classified Doctoral Research-Intensive University with more than 14,000 students. It is a regional institution, serving east Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and western North Carolina, and is located in Northeast Tennessee between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Early Childhood, Education, Special Education, Psychology, or other related fields; Experience working with/teaching in Birth to 3rd grade with children with and without disabilities and/or working with early childhood settings or k-12 education experience, and/or higher education; Experience in teaching, research, and/or administration in a higher education setting; A minimum of three years of increasingly responsible administrative experience with grant management (including administering budgets, leading educational programs, and/or leading units); A minimum of two years of managerial and supervisory experience, (supervision experience relevant to graduate assistants, temporary employees, part time employees, faculty of any classification, support staff, and professional staff).
