The Aquatics & Youth Activities Supervisor is an essential part of our team. The ideal candidate has high, dynamic energy, is safety-minded, and readily engages our kids and families daily. On a day to day basis in the summers, they work at our pool and focus on our Lifeguarding & Instructing team and helping to create and maintain a fun, safe environment at the pool for our members. In the fall, winter, and spring, they focus on our Youth Room team. The Supervisor will also be part of family and kid events and major holiday events where we serve 600-1,400 members. The ideal candidate has flexible availability including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What You'll Be Doing: Reports to Aquatics & Youth Activities Manager. Supervises lifeguards, swim instructors, and youth room attendants with a primary focus on the Aquatics staff in the summer and youth room staff in the fall, winter, and spring. Formulate weekly work schedules and rotation schedules for Aquatics employees during the summer. Assist Manager in responsibilities of the pool operation, including the safe and effective use and maintenance of chemical balance and mechanical equipment, and operating the pool and surrounding area in compliance with OSHA requirements. Supervises and assists Aquatics staff to ensure safe, clean, well-maintained, and appealing swim facilities. Encourages, supports, and provides feedback to Lifeguards & Swim Instructors. Assists in providing orientation and training for Aquatics staff. Enforces rules of safety and conduct. Assists in rendering First Aid according to the standards established by the American Red Cross and American Heart Association. Assists in maintaining all necessary records concerning pool attendance, chemicals, incident reports, schedules, etc. Maintains presence during special events at the pool. Assists in maintaining schedules, rosters, and staffing for swim lessons. Attends all required staff meetings and training. Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Aquatics & Youth Activities Manager. What You Need for this Position Pursuing a bachelor's degree in education, physical education, recreation management, or health sciences preferred but not essential. Maintain all proper certifications and trainings. Swimming experience as an athlete or coach is preferred but not essential. Lifeguard training and experience required. Experience instructing swim lessons or coaching is preferred but not essential. 21+ years old Must enjoy working with children of all ages and families. Must have flexibility with work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be Lifeguard, CPR/First Aid/AED for the Professional Rescuer certified or must obtain certification upon hire. Yearly Background Check Physical Demands & Work Environment: Working conditions are often hot, humid, slippery, and wet. Ability to work in a busy and noisy environment Ability to tolerate the smell of chlorine and frequent exposure to cleaning agents Ability to frequently and continuously stand, walk, lift, bend, climb, stoop, pull, twist or reach, balance, and crouch. Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds.
