We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, Aquatics Director that will oversee all aquatics operations. This includes the management of programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development and financial development.
Schedule will include some evening and weekend hours.  ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming natureSupport strategic direction/vision for operations of an indoor pool, aquatic programming, CPR/FA training. Recruits, hires, trains and supervises aquatic staff including: lifeguards, swim instructors, and water fitness instructorsOversees development and delivery of quality aquatics programs including swim lessons and a diverse and inclusive water fitness scheduleDevelop, manage and monitor department budgetMaintains records and prepares reports regarding programs and operations as needed; ensures compliance with all state and county regulationsEnsures excellent customer/member service and meet Association standardsProvides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaignParticipates in branch leadership meetings and special event volunteer committees. Develop promotions that recruit and develop aquatic participantsParticipates and provides leadership in Association Aquatics cabinet to ensure consistency and quality in aquatic programs and facilitiesEstablish vision and systems that ensure safety across all aquatic endeavors; lead collaboratively to provide systems that achieve sanitary conditions, safe environments, program excellence, and member service excellence Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience in Aquatics and/or recreation preferredCurrent Lifeguarding Certification, which includes First Aid, CPR professional level, and Emergency Oxygen Administration (YMCA Lifeguarding preferred)2 years continuous experience in lifeguarding and instructing swim lessons in a group environmentExperience working with children and adultsExperience supervising and training adultsStrong organizational and communication skillsPool filtration and maintenance experience preferredYMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification preferredYMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification preferredSupervising a staff team preferredExperience managing a budget preferredCompletes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children. Monitors building, staff and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities. Effect on End Result: Successful performance in this position results in vibrant and safe aquatics programs and services that utilized to deliver the YMCA mission. Participants will encounter staff and programs that will allow the development of human potential and build good health and promote positive self-esteem and safety. Behaviors of staff and volunteers will reflect the characteristics of welcoming, nurturing, genuine, determined, and hopeful.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to pass lifeguard water test.Must be able to remain alert.Tolerate heat and humidity for extended periods of timeMust be able to sit or stand for extended periods.Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.STATUS: Full-time, Exempt
STARTING SALARY: $43,000 
Education Requirements (Any)Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience in Aquatics and/or recreation preferred Certification Requirements (Any)Current aquatic certifications required: Lifeguard
First Aid
CPR for the Professional level
and Emergency Oxygen Administration.
