Summary
King County Parks is looking for an Aquatic Facility Coordinator to join the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center unit! In this position, you will have the ability to influence/contribute to the needs and accomplishments of the facility; draw and grow the skills of staff under your leadership; and support partnerships with pool patrons, user groups and sports agencies.
About the Role:
This role is crucial in ensuring that aquatic recreation programs at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center (WKCAC) are run successfully and are aligned with local and regional community needs. This person not only oversees the programmatic side of WKCAC but also serves as a supervisor and mentor to several aquatic staff which include lifeguards, swimming instructors, and facility coordinators. The role will plan and implement the delivery of aquatic recreation programs, including guarding, instructing, and staging the facility.

The Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center is one of the premier natatorium arenas in the nation. This 2,500-seat indoor facility hosts more than 50 events annually including top national and international championships. In addition to these competitions, WKCAC serves the local and regional community through team trainings and a full array of recreational programing.

Job DutiesWhat You Will Be Doing: Coordinate the facility's aquatic recreation programs matching King County equity priorities with local and regional community needs.
Manage, supervise, and participate in day-to-day operations including recreation and events, basic facility maintenance, and safety programs.
Build teams, supervise, coach and mentor staff while ensuring consistent application and compliance with labor policies; implement best practices for workplace expectations and performance improvement.
Build a culture of continuous improvement by empowering team members to solve problems, see failures as opportunities, and leverage strengths of each member to build a high performing team delivering excellent service to customers.
Complete administrative duties including time entry for staff, payroll duties, tracking staff schedules and certifications, planning staff in-service trainings, scheduling lesson sessions, and responding to public inquiries and concerns.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsQualifications You Bring:  Knowledge of Seattle King County Department of Health codes and regulations for public swimming facilities.
Knowledge of American Red Cross Learn to Swim, Lifeguarding and Safety courses.
Knowledge of and/or experience with aquatic sports national standards for facilities, equipment, and course configurations
Demonstrated ability to lead and support a team towards accomplishing established goals and in addressing performance issues.
Demonstrated experience in customer service roles with the ability to effectively engage diverse customer populations, answer inquiries, and resolve issues for a positive customer experience.
Experience in conflict resolution and problem solving, and skill in employing sound judgment.
Demonstrated organizational skills and experience with scheduling and managing multiple priorities.

Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions: Work Location: Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center, 650 SW Campus Dr, Federal Way, WA 98023
Work Schedule:This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position will also require a flexible work schedule during programs and events. This position will be on-call during programming and may work outside of standard working hours for staff inquiries, program emergencies, and facility alarms. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
Union Representation:This position is not represented by a union.
Physical Requirement: This position will need to perform swimming and lifeguarding duties. This position will also require the ability to perform physical duties to stage facilities, which can include moving bulkheads, placing lane lines in and out of the pools, moving portable bleachers, placing carpet runners, erecting staging, assembling pipe and drape, moving tables and chairs, and posing and cleaning locker rooms.
