Provo City is looking for a part-timeAirport Operations Specialisttoassist in directingairside operations,maintainingProvo's Airport Operating Certificate,and coordinatingairport security,including airport security systems and facilities. Application Review Process:

This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed below to be eligible for consideration.
Pay Rate:

$18.00 per hour (Payment will be made by direct deposit.)

Essential Duties :
Regularly inspect and evaluate airport and tenant facilities, access controls, barriers, fences, staffed gates, and construction sites forTSAcompliance.

Execute airport operating certification requirements and plans,including the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Security Plan, Wildlife Maintenance Plan,Snow and Ice Plan, Access Control Plan, Airport Emergency Plan and other federally mandated plans.

Identify, assess, and determine security risks and may make final decisions on resolving security issues.

Make and communicate passenger boarding decisions.

Comply with FAA airfield maintenance standards,includingforairport lights, markers, and signs.

Manage wildlife on airport property including wildlife harvesting.

Assess and make decisions regarding Air Operations Area conditions using Runway Condition Assessment Matrix andWildlife Maintenance Plan.

Ensure all airport electrical systems and equipment, radio equipment, landing direction indicator, access gates, and other equipment are fully operational 24/7.

Handle, inspect, maintain, and schedule tool maintenance, repairs, usage and inventory.

Receive and process various applications and requests for services,including Security Identification Display Area,Air Operations Area, Sterile Area, or Secured Area access.

Distribute airport-issued security ID access media as regulated.

Train security employees.

Regularly communicate with and assist Air Traffic Control Tower, passengers, City employees, airline personnel, contractors, and the public on various issues.

Explain policies and procedures.

May act as lead Airport Security Coordinator for commercial airline flights.

If needed, delay flights for rescreening.

May conduct on-site company badge audits per TSA requirements.

Assess unsafe wildlife situations and close airport if needed.

Act as Airport Manager as needed and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements :
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Three years of progressively responsible maintenance and heavy equipment experience.

Department of Homeland Security background check required.

A valid, lawful Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Airport Security Coordinator certificate and Airport Inspector and Airport Wildlife Hazard Management on-the-job training completion required within one month of hire.

Must obtain and hold an Airport Green Security Badge during employment.

Airport experience preferred.

Schedule:

This position is 25 hours a week, Monday through Friday. Actual schedule to be determined by the hiring manager.
Pre-employment Screening:

Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
