Your Job
Develop processes to support new products or improve existing practices that enhance quality and productivity by integrating new equipment and automated systems. Work independently and as part of team to justify, implement, and qualify assembly automation in mid-volume, high mix environment. This role is key to support the business unit's production objectives. What You Will Do Automation Leader: Drive efforts to automate new and existing processes using internal and third-party resources. Develop and Implement Automation Solutions: Create vision and specify requirements of automated systems then work with internal and external partners to justify, develop, and implement systems. This includes third-party collaboration, programming, system integration, qualification, and optimization of automated machinery and software. Collaborate with Development Teams: Work closely with electrical and mechanical development teams to understand product functionalities and requirements. Support new product costing and application engineer activities by providing systems concepts and capital investment estimates. Process Optimization: Analyze current production processes to identify opportunities for automation. Implement solutions that reduce costs, improve quality, and increase throughput. Research and Innovation: Stay informed about the latest in automation technology and sensor development. Propose innovative solutions that keep the company at the forefront of technology. Continuous Improvement: Research, justify, and implement new equipment and systems to support light assembly manufacturing. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support for existing automation systems. This includes troubleshooting issues, performing maintenance, and adjusting or updating as needed. Documentation and Compliance: Document projects thoroughly, including design specifications, validation documentation, user instructions/training, and maintenance guidelines. Comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Production Support: Sustain existing manufacturing processes through problem solving, optimizing, and upgrading. Quality Improvement: Investigate, identify root cause, apply corrective action, and document quality issues that occur in manufacturing. Prototyping: Support sample builds, proof of concept, and experimenting with examination of results. Other: Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, or a related field. 3+ years of proven experience in automation, preferably in the manufacturing of electronic devices or sensors. Experience with automation hardware and software, including PLCs, robotics, and material transport systems. Basic CAD and 3D modeling skills. What Will Put You Ahead Master's degree in a relevant engineering field. Experience with sensor technologies or related products. Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning as applied to automation. Knowledge of sensor technologies and their applications. Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to work on cross-functional teams. Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments. Strong mechanical aptitude to pinpoint machine failures and improvement opportunities. Ability to read technical prints / drawings. Strong written and verbal communication skills with intent to explain processes, propose changes, or establish technical requirements. Growth mindset to challenge status quo and find new paths. Minimal travel as necessary to support the above efforts.
