Job Description SummaryThe Next Generation Products (NGP) organization is responsible for the design, analysis, integration, and support of future military engine products. The NGP Advanced Lead Design Engineer owns the design, development, and qualification of advanced military products, specifically hot structural components. The engineer is responsible for executing technical design tasks including analysis and manufacturing support of assigned hardware in addition to program management of hardware cost, weight, and schedule deliverables. This position reports to an engineering manager in Evendale, OH with the opportunity to integrate with various internal and external engineering disciplines.Teams in the Next Generation Products space are energized with a passion for the aerospace industry and are devoted to supporting our military customers. We develop breakthrough technologies to create the future of military propulsion, continuing GE's long history of engineering excellence.Job DescriptionRoles & ResponsibilitiesExecute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned components for advanced military productsAdhere to business standards, practices, procedures, and product requirementsLeverage prior mechanical design experience and broaden knowledge of one's own technical discipline to meet product deliverables within schedule and budget constraintsDemonstrate systems-thinking mentality to understand how work of one's team integrates with others to achieve product requirementsExhibit autonomy to make decisions within a defined requirements framework while resolving design challenges in situations which require technical knowledge and judgmentReview designs and consult with senior technical leaders for evaluation of workThis role requires sound interpersonal skills to develop strong internal and external customer relationships by serving as an interface point within GERequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering from an accredited universityMinimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical design or mechanical analysis engineering positionMust have – or have the ability to obtain – a US Government Security clearance at the Secret levelDesired CharacteristicsMaster's degree in mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering from an accredited universityHighly motivated, passionate about the NGP mission, and with strong communication skillsDemonstrated ability to analyze and solve technical challenges with sound reasoning, project planning, execution, and documentationExperience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS and 3D modelling software such as NX UnigraphicsExperience with structural component design and analysisHolding an existing US Government Security ClearanceThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
