POSITION: Adult Education Program Coordinator, Fire & EMS Academy
REPORTS TO: Director of Adult Education
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, 249 days, 40 hours per week, FLSA exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in related area preferred Minimum of seven years full-time related work experience Current State of Ohio Certification as a Firefighter Level II AND Paramedic Current State of Ohio Certification as a Fire Instructor AND EMS Instructor Technical Rescue experience preferred Teaching and employee supervision experience is preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong organizational and technology skills Hold or be willing to obtain a valid Ohio Educator's licensure or permit Must pass a criminal background check Hold a valid Ohio Driver's License GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Coordinator will be responsible for supervising, and conducting training programs and classes, in their area of expertise. The coordinator will also be responsible for teaching multiple classes, recruiting students and maintaining individual class and program enrollment for the programs he/she oversees. These programs and/or classes shall include both open enrollment and customized training. The curriculum for the programs and/or classes will provide well-planned, current instruction that meets the needs of the students and business and industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manages and oversees the chartering of Firefighter, Fire Safety Inspector and Instructor Training Programs Coordinates both the Adult Education and Secondary training programs for compliance with the state issued fire charter Supervises the development of short-term, immediate, and long-range programs for the public safety program curricular area Develops and implements customized training programs and workshops for the public safety program curricular area Identifies equipment, texts, supplementary and software needs and ensures that they are available for instruction when needed. Manages and facilitates written and practical exams for firefighting and EMT completing students Responsible for coordination and use of fire training facilities Organizes and maintains an active advisory committee for the public safety program curricular area to establish effective training programs Assists with planning and documenting the advisory committee meetings (minimum of two times per year) Assists in the hiring and orientation of adjunct instructors for the area of expertise Has a working knowledge of the assessment instruments used to evaluate employee performance Conducts employee observations and evaluations of hourly instructional staff (part-time and full-time) Organizes and participates in adjunct faculty training Assesses customer needs Recruits and markets programs to potential students, businesses and industries Develops and maintains program budget to ensure program viability, compiles data and prepares reports as assigned Ensures student grades, attendance, credentials, and placement data are inputted in a timely manner and maintained on applicable student management systems Maintains programs in accordance with The Ohio Department of Higher Education, The Ohio Department of Public Safety and all other applicable accreditation standards Initiates the maintenance of equipment and furnishes inventory for area of responsibility Develops program externships as necessary to promote and reinforce student learning Works with other institutions of higher learning to develop articulation agreements and training partnerships Salary: Based on experience Application Deadline: April 19, 2024 or until filled How to apply:
