Full job description Summary
Serves as liaison to new (small) business groups to BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. Email correspondence with customers, agents, agencies, group leaders, marketing, underwriting, and operations to ensure appropriate documentation is received for accurate and timely processing. Verifies all group submissions are in compliance with BCBS underwriting rules and regulations.
Description
This position is onsite, Columbia, South Carolina.
Reviews all forms/documents for completeness. Contacts agents/groups for needed information. Verifies coverage benefits. Keys group and member information into enrollment system.
Performs initial underwriting review using medical rater program. Requests necessary medical records. Submits packages to underwriting. Runs alternate proposals through Accel-a-rate proposal system.
Reviews rating for workers' compensation and out of state employees. Retrieves claims history information. Acquires necessary approval from Companion Life.
Handles inquiries from agents, group leaders, and customers. Works closely with agents, agencies, and sales representatives to determine if additional training is necessary based on quality of groups submitted.
Required Education: Associate's
Degree Equivalency: 2 years job related work experience. Strong data entry and writing skills.
Required Work Experience: 2 years small group marketing, membership, underwriting, and/or customer service.
Required Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. Good judgment skills. Effective customer service and organizational skills. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills. Analytical or critical thinking skills. Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
Required Software and Tools: Microsoft Office.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree- Marketing, Business Administration, communications, or related field.
Preferred Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of database software. Effective presentation skills. Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others.
Preferred Software and Other Tools: Working knowledge of Microsoft Access or other database software.
Work Environment: Typical office environment.
