Responsibilities
• Developing strong professional relationships with other agencies throughout state government;• Providing information and recommendations to the Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General, and the Division Chiefs on overall administration and management of the Department;• Directing the Department's administrative operations within a complex system reflecting a variety of programs and activities financed through a multitude of funding sources;• Managing the personnel of the division, including technical staff responsible for supporting the business operations of the Department;• Participating as a member of Executive Staff of the Department, helping make decisions and setting strategic and operational goals for DOJ consistent with state statutes, administrative rules, federal regulations and laws, and policies of the Attorney General of Oregon; and ensuring Division coordination with other divisions of DOJ;• Formulating and implementing internal management and work-processing systems to best process and monitor the division's work.
Requirements
• Seven years of management experience; OR four years of management experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field;• Demonstrated successful experience managing functions that provide administrative services to legal professionals or experience managing a legal practice;• An understanding of Oregon law or government structure, complemented by an appreciation of the role of the Department of Justice in representing the state, its agencies, and its officials;• The ability to provide leadership to a diverse staff at all experience levels;• Willingness and availability to travel;• The successful candidate will also understand the agency's affirmative action goals and objectives and develop and implement plans to meet them; recognize the value of individual and cultural differences and create a work environment where individual differences are valued; and, treat colleagues, customers, and stakeholders/partners with dignity and respect.
