Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and families in South Dakota. We are currently seeking a dedicated Administrative Cook for our Head Start Pre-Birth to Five program. This vital role involves preparing nutritious meals for children and teachers, ensuring adherence to state and federal nutritional standards, and fostering a safe and welcoming dining environment.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare, cook, and serve daily meals in accordance with the nutritional standards and approved recipes. Complete menus/recipes that comply with the Child and Adult Care Food Program, with consideration of any special dietary needs. Ensure compliance with Childcare Licensing and the Child and Adult Care Food Program regulations. Maintain kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring cleanliness and safety at all times. Keep accurate records of meals served and food inventory for compliance with State and Federal agencies. Order food supplies and manage inventory efficiently. Foster positive eating environments, assist children with meal portions, and ensure special dietary needs are met. Engage with children during meal times to encourage a positive dining experience. Maintain strict sanitation practices, performing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties. Participate in team meetings, training, and seminars to stay informed and contribute to program excellence. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Food Service, Dietetics, or Home Economics. At least one year of related experience in community nutrition or supervisory food services. Certification in School Food Service & ServSafe is highly desirable. Strong ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to varied situations. Valid South Dakota Driver's License. Skills and Abilities: Passion for working with young children and the ability to create a nurturing, safe, and healthy mealtime environment. Proficient in basic math for accurate measurement of ingredients and portion control. Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
