This Administrative Assistant II position provides administrative support for both the Department of Women's & Gender Studies as well as the Towson University Writing Center; duties divided 50/50. The position requires the ability to navigate the various processes and procedures involved in university administration including payroll, purchasing, budgeting, and course administration. It requires independent problem-solving skills and the ability to seek out information from other university units.           
Responsibilities and Duties
Manage day-to-day office operations for both units, which includes processing paperwork involving course administration, monitoring financial transactions, reviewing and approving travel expense reports, preparing faculty contracts, and communicating with other units such as payroll, human resources, the Office of Technology Services, and the Provost's Budget Office to handle the ongoing operational needs of both offices.   Provide excellent customer service for faculty, staff, and students about classes and programs in the Department of Women's and Gender Studies. Draft professional emails and other correspondence to stakeholders both within and outside the university.   Help administer the Writing Center's tutoring schedules and provide oversight/guidance for the student workers who help staff the Writing Center reception desk.   Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in both offices to organize, advertise, and facilitate meetings and events, including reserving rooms, facilitating parking, ordering catering, and paying speaker's fees.  Serve as key and access coordinator, managing office and master keys. Manage department equipment inventory, including equipment purchases, maintenance, tagging, and disposal.   Support both units with other administrative duties as needed.  Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.  Three years of experience providing administrative support.  Excellent communication skills; excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and time management skills; ability to respond to and follow through with various requests promptly and accurately; flexibility to adapt to new assignments; and a team player who works well with faculty, students. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Previous experience in an academic support office setting, including budgets is preferred. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Salary and Benefits $40,609 annually and full University benefits that include annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
