The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 2 with Extension in Las Vegas, NV. **This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The Administrative Assistant 2 will provide dedicated administrative support to the entire team to ensure efficient operation of office, answers phone calls, schedule meetings and support the project team, carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning for evaluation tools, makes travel arrangements for senior staff such as booking flights, cars, and hotel reservations, maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
This position will assist the grant team and PIs in designing, proofreading, formatting and editing program presentations (e.g. composing various written documents such as correspondences and reports); Assist with designing, proofing, formatting and editing social media content for project news; other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR
One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
A valid Class "C" Nevada driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with experience using desktop publishing software such as Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, basic video software, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 25 (Entry, Step 01 $18.40/hr. – Step 03 $19.94/hr.)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
