Responsibilities
• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate recreation programs• Observe and evaluate resident attendance, mood, behavior, and involvement• Participate in community planning and discharge planning• Interview residents or family members to obtain recreation information• Involve resident and family in planning recreation programs• Refer residents and families to appropriate social service personnel• Coordinate activities with other departments• Keep up with economic conditions and recommend adjustments in programs• Develop and maintain quality assurance program• Participate in facility surveys by government agencies• Ensure informative and descriptive progress notes are charted• Arrange transportation for field trips• Serve on various committees• Participate in reviews of resident discharge plans• Attend staff meetings and assist in problem-solving• Develop and maintain rapport with other departments• Assist in developing volunteer recreation assignments• Participate in orientation and in-service training programs• Assist in departmental studies and projects• Attend and participate in training programs related to safety and sanitation• Follow ergonomics policies and procedures• Use protective clothing and devices when handling hazardous materials• Prepare and clean up recreation areas• Recommend equipment and supply needs• Assist in moving and arranging equipment and supplies• Develop a written plan of care for each resident• Encourage resident and family participation in care plan• Follow care plan in providing daily activities• Assist in budget development• Purchase department supplies and personal items for residents• Review and resolve resident complaints and grievances• Implement recreation procedures and activities• Schedule movies, plan parties, and provide games for residents• Drive facility vehicle to events• Encourage resident participation in social activities• Oversee residents engaged in activities• Befriend residents and perform assistance• Arrange for sale of articles made by residents• Assist in-room residents with various tasks• Conduct re-motivation and reality orientation sessions• Work in office areas and throughout the facility• Attend continuing educational programs
Requirements
• Possess a high school diploma or GED• Class C driver's license• Understand the English language• Make independent decisions• Seek out new methods and principles• Must be able to move throughout the workday• Possess sight and hearing senses• Meet general health requirements• Ability to lift minimum of 5 pounds and maximum of 45 pounds periodically
