The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the following policies and procedures established for the day-to-day general accounting functions and tasks of Insurance Office of America
Accounting Specialist – Accounts Receivable essential functions include:
Monitor daily banking activity and the Accounts Receivable inbox, identifying client premium payments and premium finance funding available to be applied to client accountsResponsible for monthly recording of commission received from carriers : Enter EFT deposits, complete checks deposits, contact carrier to have direct deposits setup as neededBalance EFT bank account to EPICProperly apply cash deposits in the general ledger to the client's account and/or underlying accounts receivable invoices, working directly with the operations team to immediately resolve discrepancies between cash receipts and general ledger entriesRecord carrier payments which have been swept from the trust bank account, as a result of a client depositing direct bill premiums into the company's bank accountProactively monitor unapplied cash reports and AR aging reports to identify items that need attention and work directly with operations or the appropriate party to determine a timely and appropriate resolutionAddress accounts receivable related questions or requests that come though the Accounts Receivable shared email inbox in a timely mannerCompile and electronically archive supporting documentation for cash depositsQualified candidates will have: High School Diploma or equivalent1+ years' previous accounting or finance experienceAssociate's degree or Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or accounting is preferredExperience in the insurance industry is preferredExperience with Applied – Epic (agency management system/general ledger) is preferredExcellent administrative, multi-tasking and organizational skills with the ability to pay strong attention to detailAbility to analyze and problem solve complex issuesOutstanding verbal and written communication skillsStrong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and WordGreat Reasons to Work at IOA include: Competitive salaries and bonus earning potentialGreat benefits, including company paid health insurancePaid time off for holidays, vacations, and sick time401K with an employer matchParticipation in our employee stock planOpportunities for professional growth and career progressionA culture that emphasizes respect for every individualCompany commitment to work/family life balance and community serviceTeammates who share your drive for excellenceKnowing every day you are helping our clients protect their families and businessesIf you're ready to take a leap forward in your career, please click below to apply.  Any candidates meeting the qualification requirements for the Accounting Specialist – Accounts Receivable role will be contacted.  We're looking forward to hearing from you!
