Responsibilities
• Prepares required financial statements and fiscal reports• Compiles and analyzes data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports• Communicates with various stakeholders for information and assistance• Maintains cash management records• Prepares, monitors, reconciles, audits, and forecasts revenues, expenditures, and budgets• Reviews and approves purchases and contracts• Participates in the development of new accounting techniques• Designs and implements accounting subsystems• Compiles manuals for accounting and computer application• Prepares managerial reports
Requirements
• Baccalaureate degree with 24 semester hours in accounting• 1 year of professional level experience in accounting or financial auditing• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate can substitute for degree and experience• Master's degree in related field can substitute for 1 year of experience• Substitutions for degree only: work experience and college credit combination• College credit must be from an accredited college or university• Function of work: Provide professional accounting services• Level of work: Experienced• Supervision Received: Generally from higher-level Accountant or fiscal supervisor• Supervision Exercised: None• Location of Work: May be used by all state agencies• Job Distinctions: Differs from Accountant 1 by complexity of duties and level of responsibility• Differs from Accountant 3 by lesser complexity, size of unit, and variety of programs
