The Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Accountant 3. Under the supervision of the Financial Reporting Manager the Accountant 3 is responsible for assisting in the preparation, posting and reconciling of all daily cash disbursements; monitoring disbursement requests for appropriateness and authorization; assists in preparing reports including the daily cash sheet, budget reports, month end financials, Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 68 (GASB 68) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 75 (GASB 75), and the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) production; assists in maintaining and reconciling the internal database General Ledger (GL) and performing other related duties as assigned. ***Please note that this position will work on-site and may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.***  
Job Duties:
Assist the Financial Reporting Manager on the preparation of various year-end financial reporting schedules to include:
o Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
o Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR)
o Cancer Insurance Plan Annual Financial Report (AFR)
o Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 68 (GASB 68)
o Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 75 (GASB 75).Pension payroll process to include monthly pension payroll process, reissue and special checks.Receive and process all ACH reversals and cut reissue checks for pension members who closed accounts or had incorrect account information.Work with benefits department to ensure all pension members benefits are paid.Communicate with internal department heads and personnel along with external organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts, exchange information and streamline all processes to maximize efficiency.Assist in monthly cash/bank reconciliations.Work with the Controller and Financial Reporting Manager on aging reports, cash journal entries and associated reconciliations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of: Generally accepted accounting practices and principles.Principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques of government accounting and fiscal management.Applicable laws, codes and regulations.Methods and techniques of data processing as it relates to accounting practices.Established practices of budget preparation and control.Skill in: Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing and operations use.Reconciling accounts, records, reports and journals.Reviewing and verifying accuracy of data.Preparing financial and/or auditor statements, schedules and reports.Review, audit and analysis of complex accounting and financial reports.Advanced skill in using Microsoft Excel for data validation and re-engineering processes with the ability to produce and maintain spreadsheets.Ability to: Perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment with minimal supervision.Organize own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines.Independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.Make sound, independent judgments within established policies and procedures.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the positions area of responsibility. Selective Preference(s):
A Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field from an accredited college or university. Pre-Employment Requirements:
