JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The function of the Account Manager is to seek, contact, and negotiate with potential and current customers in order to obtain sales for the company. Achieve or exceed the budgeted sales and profits as presented by the Sales Manager. Produce enough new profitable business to ensure the growth and profit goals of the company.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The following position(s) report directly to the Sales Manager: Account managers

Estimators

This position reports directly to the General Manager. AUTHORITY The Account manager is selected and appointed by the Sales Manager and is delegated the authority to accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the position including, but not limited to: Contact potential customers to solicit business. Entertain potential customers and existing accounts within the budget established by the General Manager. Follow up on delinquent accounts and collect receivables, when necessary.

EDUCATION Requires: High school diploma or equivalent Prefers: Associate's Degree (or greater) in business or related field with a major in sales and/or marketing. LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION Requires: Valid state driver's license EXPERIENCE Requires: Three (3) years of experience in sales of precision parts preferably custom-built solutions or related field, with a sales volume of $2 million or more. General knowledge of machining processes, equipment, and materials. Prefers: Three (3) years' experience in sales CNC finished metal works used in industrial plants or related field with a sales volume of $2 million or more.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Ability to understand the needs of business accounts through conversational interaction with clients and converting those needs into sales. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Demonstrated excellent knowledge of the industry and trends impacting the business. Ability to effectively communicate (in English) both verbally and in writing. Ability to do routine business math calculations including computation of sales costs, job analysis and quotes. Ability to deal effectively with customers in person and on the telephone. Demonstrated excellent understanding of the principles of marketing and sales. Ability to read and analyze company financial statements. Ability to ready and interpret production layouts and drawings. TWIC

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements are moderate. 

Body movements include walking, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending, and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands and fingers are required. 

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Sense of being able to see, hear and having full power of speech (in English) are required. 

MENTAL

  Must be able to comprehend and perform basic business mathematical calculations, including estimating.

Must be able to develop basic schematics/plans for material and labor requirements.

Must be computer literate.

Must have powerful communication skills, both verbally and written (in English), to interact with clients, employees, vendors, professionals, and industry leaders.

The sense of sight, speech (in English), and hearing are required. 

Must possess excellent verbal and written (in English) communication skills. WORKING CONDITIONS The work for this position will be divided between a climate controlled, smokefree office environment and outside, other business locations, and job sites while making sales calls on potential and current customers. From this movement, the employee will encounter varying temperatures. 

The normal auto and air travel hazards will apply. Travel will be in all types of weather, including heavy rain, high heat temperatures.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work will be performed from eight (8) to ten (10) hours per day, five (5) days per week. Some days will contain early or late sales meetings and/or meetings with customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with all other departments of the company.

Participate, as required, in pre-bid/pre-contract discussions with buyers, plant managers, or other pertinent people, for the purpose of gathering pertinent information which may be required for estimating and preparing an estimate proposal.

Coordinate meetings to solicit additional input from end users. Apply/include price escalation management provisions to protect the project's profitability against price-cost erosion.

Develop and maintain an awareness of competition also bidding on the jobs.

Double check all calculations and apply test of reasonableness against formulas included in estimates completed by the estimators prior to recommending they are ready for submittal.

For all jobs awarded, assist Project Management and Administration in preparing a "job packet". As required, assist in the preparation and estimation of change orders. Establish and/or maintain an estimate/bid proposal schedule board/worksheet indicating when bids were received and when submittals are due. Use company supplied CRM system, maintain information up to date. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Sales Manager.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES Develops and implements effective and efficient sales and marketing programs with the concurrence of the Sales Manager. Remains visible in the business community and in the marketplace in which the company operates, always providing a positive and professional image for the company. Maintains an accurate and up-to-date customer account list with detailed information. Ensures that all company transactions are done in an ethical and prudent manner. Settles all customer complaints at this level and seeks guidance of the General Manager, as necessary. Maintains a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and situation in which the Account Manager may be involved. Attends trade shows, conventions, seminars, and other meetings to enhance his/her professional knowledge and/or to promote Benchmark. Attendance will be directed by the General Manager. Keeps updated on the events in the industry and market place in order to take advantage of new changes. Follows all instructions, both written and verbal, as given by the Sales Manager. Remains in constant contact with established customers to ensure their satisfaction with the company's products and services and to promote additional sales. Meets regularly with subordinates to ensure proper information flow and adherence to stated goals and objectives. Develops systems or procedures for following through on leads, contacts, and commitments. Completes and submits all reports required and/or requested in a complete and timely manner. Creates and executes a sales plan for contacting a sufficient number of potential customers in order to achieve the volume of sales needed to meet the company's goals set for sales, market share, and market segmentation to enable the company to reach growth objectives. Ensures the acquisition of potential customers by appropriate means including, but not limited to, direct mail, advertising, promotions, referrals, and direct sales calls. Ensures that an accurate recording system is maintained with CRM on all estimates submitted to customers, when applicable. Attends all the before and/or after-hours sales meetings. Keeps informed on competitors' selling policies, tactics, services, and prices offered. Adheres to production policies and procedures to assure a smooth transition from estimate award to operations team.

Perform all other duties and tasks as may be directed from by the Sales Manager.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE Met or exceeded sales volume goals as established by the Sales Manager. Met or exceeded profit margins as established by the Sales Manager. All paperwork processed in the office in an accurate and timely manner. Conducted himself/herself in a professional and cooperative manner throughout the year. Maintained a high customer satisfaction, with complaints held to an acceptable minimum as established by the Sales Manager. Met the quotas for sales, existing customer contacts, contacts with potential customers, and other performance measures as established and discussed with the Sales Manager.
