JOB SUMMARY Eastside Catholic School is seeking an Academic Resource Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. The successful candidate will be a member of our Learning Support Team and will work with students with diagnosed learning disabilities, as well as students without diagnosis who need assistance with study skills, test strategies, executive functioning skills and self-advocacy. The Academic Resource Teacher plays a vital role in teaching specific skills and learning strategies to help students achieve academic success. This position reports to the Director of Learning Support and is a full-time faculty member.
Specific Responsibilities Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment built on respect, positive rapport and clear communication. Direct skill development in executive function, study skills, and self-advocacy in alignment with department best practices and expectations. Identify individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs. Model the skills, attitudes, and behaviors the Academic Resources Department promotes. Proctor assessments for students with accommodations one or more class periods a day. Serve as an academic coach for students with accommodation plans and provide academic support and intervention management. Complete weekly grade checks for 8/9 grade students and coordinate necessary follow-up meetings. Communicate and collaborate with teachers and counselors over shared students. Document all student meetings and report the status of student success to the Director of Academic Resources Participate in on-going professional development to build an evolving Academic Resources curriculum, and enhance understanding of our student population. Serve as an instructional assistant in grades 8/9 upon request to maintain a positive learning environment inclusive of diverse learners. Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, skills and abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient with classroom technology; confident in ability to learn new technology including assistive technology Strong work ethic, excellent collaborative skills, and willingness to partner with parents and coworkers Ability to maintain confidential information Commitment and ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of students, including twice-exceptional, neurodiverse, and those from diverse cultural and social backgrounds A commitment to practices that promote equity, inclusion and belonging Education and experience Bachelor's degree in education or related field Experience working successfully with high school students who have a broad range of learning styles; experience working with students who have learning disabilities is preferred Social work and counseling experience also considered.
