Salary Range: Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for General Surgery ranging from $356,293 to $572,403. The posted UC salary scales set the base pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Professor and Professor of Teaching (LSOE) Series - Specialized Health Science Scales - Health Sciences Compensation Plan. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description
The Division of Transplantation at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is actively recruiting an additional full-time Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Surgeon to join the growing faculty at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Level.
The UCI Transplant Program is the only academic transplant program in Orange County, CA. It is a well-established program that is currently undergoing significant growth in living and deceased donor kidney transplantation and pancreas transplantation. The program currently has 1000 transplant referrals/year and performs close to 150 transplants/year and growing. The program is supported by 4 nephrologists, 35 transplant program staff and 2 transplant surgeons with substantial support and investment from the medical center.
The successful candidate is an essential part of the program's growth strategy in kidney and pancreas transplantation. The candidate should exhibit strong clinical proficiency in kidney and pancreas transplantation, be facile in minimally invasive living donor nephrectomies, and ideally have expertise in robotic surgery. The candidate is also anticipated to perform general and vascular access surgeries while maintaining an unwavering commitment to ensuring high-quality patient care and safety standards.
The Division of Transplantation Surgery has a significant research focus in transplant immunology, islet cell biology and transplant clinical trials. Adequate research infrastructure and support will be readily available to support the candidates research program if desired.
Additionally, the candidate will play a pivotal role in the education and mentorship of medical students and residents, contributing significantly to the academic mission of the institution.

Eligible candidates should possess an MD or equivalent or MD/PhD degree, with American Board of Surgery certification/ eligibility in general surgery or urology, and have successfully completed an ASTS certified fellowship or its equivalent in transplantation. Faculty rank and series will be determined by the training, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate. The candidate will be appointed in the Professor of Clinical-X Series or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Level. Strong interest and demonstrated abilities in delivering patient care in an academic clinical setting, teaching residents, fellows, and medical students, clinical research, and providing service to the University are required.
Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criteria for appointment in this series.
Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
