Job Summary The College of Public Health and Human Sciences is seeking three Academic Advisors. These are full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty positions.
This position supports the College of Public Health and Human Sciences (CPHHS) Office of Academic Advising mission by partnering with students in a collaborative process that promotes and supports the exploration, development, and achievement of their unique academic and professional goals. This position will have primary advising responsibilities across all undergraduate majors in the CPHHS and an assigned caseload that could include either or both Ecampus and Corvallis campus students.
Responsibilities will include: Providing academic advising services to undergraduate Corvallis and/or Ecampus students in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences Explaining and clarifying University, College, and Major academic policies and requirements Representing the College at recruitment, orientation, and retention events both on & off-campus Providing College, School, Major, and University information to prospective students and those changing majors Assisting with preparing College printed and electronic materials, presentations, and reports. Collaborating with colleagues on identified projects. Key Responsibilities 80% Advise and Mentor Corvallis campus and/or Ecampus Undergraduate Students for Academic Success: Provide one-on-one academic advising to undergraduate CPHHS students, including prospective students. Individualize student selection of appropriate courses and concentrations in terms of students' stated preferences. Resolve problems related to curriculum and course prerequisites. Mentor students on academic warning, probation, and suspension, constructing a plan of action for resolution and successful integration. Advise students regarding their career goals and pathway to overall student success Initiate and maintain MyDegrees notes to track student progress, decisions, and advising conversations. Add electronic files as appropriate to OnBase, updating and evaluating files as new information is received. Review and assess transcripts including evaluation of transfer credits and applicability of academic credit to program requirements. Exhibit positive regard, care, concern, and respect for students, families, and colleagues via listening and interpersonal skills. Assist students to overcome barriers to progress toward degree completion. Academically evaluate student files to ensure deadlines are met for completing various graduation requirements such as course completion, credit maximums and minimums, and other specific program requirements and communicate evaluation to students. Respond to student inquiries and concerns promptly. Engage in proactive outreach efforts to maximize student retention, focusing on registration tasks, application deadlines, and academic performance. Compose and create materials supporting group and/or individual recruitment efforts. Attend and participate in individual and group recruitment activities and/or orientations and other information dissemination sessions. Deliver oral presentations, differentiating content to meet the specific needs of the audience. Prepare and deliver presentations to represent academic faculty and programs at outreach presentations. Collaborate with faculty, campus partners, and college and university administrators by providing requested data, recommendations, and feedback regarding course access and barriers to student success. Attend Ecampus training and meetings when applicable. Guide pre-health professions students when applicable. Provide coaching advising to assist students new to or challenged by online learning when applicable. Engage in professional development opportunities. 20% – Leadership Roles: Including but not limited to: Peer advisor supervision, pre-health professions coordinator, START/orientation, management, transfer coordinator, Ecampus liaison, international programs liaison, NCAA audit liaison, PHHS representative on various university-wide committees, etc. Other duties as required by the head advisor. What You Will Need Bachelor's Degree.

What We Would Like You to Have Master's degree in field related to position.
Professional academic advising experience with college students.
Experience supporting the academic progression of college or university students.
Experience advising pre-health professions students.
Experience working with fully online students and/or nontraditional students.
Demonstrable knowledge of student development theory.
Experience working with Banner/Oracle, Degree Works, Salesforce, and/or other higher education software programs.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Availability to work during evenings and weekends as needed and attend student recruiting events and professional organization meetings held locally and nationally is required. Remote work is negotiable.
