Responsibilities
• Provide academic advice and guidance to students on degree programs and course planning.• Assist with adds/drops, withdrawals, and changes of curriculum.• Review academic records and test scores for proper course recommendations.• Monitor student progress and verify completion of degree requirements.• Refer students to resources for admissions, financial aid, housing, and other concerns.• Respond to inquiries from students and parents.• Serve as a liaison between colleges and other university offices.• Meet with freshman and transfer students during orientation.• Develop and give presentations about the university to visiting groups.• Maintain positive relationships with academic deans, faculty, and university departments.• Participate in university events and programs.• Maintain records of student contacts.• Serve on university and departmental committees.• Provide leadership for development of new programs.• Review and provide input on scholarship applications.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in applicable field.• Zero years of related experience in advising and recruiting.• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.• Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits.• Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.• Ability to multitask, work cooperatively with others, and present information clearly and concisely.• Ability to work with sensitive information, maintain confidentiality, work beyond normal office hours, and travel.• Valid driver's license.
