Job Summary Perform full range of activities associated with installation and maintenance of components used in campus heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related equipment including chilled water, refrigeration, air compressor, gas heater, air drier, fume hoods, and pumps. Regularly schedules, assigns and provides work direction to lower level mechanics, maintenance and/or contract personnel. This position will interact with on a consistent basis with: maintenance supervision and staff, building managers, contractors and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: lower level mechanics and maintenance workers. This position will supervise: NA.
Responsibilities Job Duty 1 -
Advanced level install, repair, replacement, operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing component used in HVAC.
Job Duty 2 -
Perform advanced level preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
Job Duty 3 -
Troubleshoot advanced pneumatic, electrical, and digital controls.
Job Duty 4 -
Purchase and account for HVAC related parts and materials
Job Duty 5 -
Work with specialized computer applications, as required
Job Duty 6 -
Schedule, assign and provide work direction to mechanics, maintenance personnel and contractors related to HVAC system installation and maintenance
Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma Other Required Qualifications
Valid Georgia Driver's License This position may be required to vary workdays in order to provide coverage on weekends. The work environment involves some physical risks that require following basic safety precautions. This position may be exposed to weather conditions, hazardous materials, fumes, dust/sawdust, hot surfaces, noise, rotating machinery, and high pressure liquids or gases. This job requires handling of objects up to 50 pounds, walking for long distances and climbing stairs. Required Experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS
This job requires master level knowledge and skills for installing and maintaining a full range of HVAC components. Position requires the ability to read prints, drawings, and schematics via paper copies and computerized software systems. In addition, the job requires ability to operate machine tools, motor vehicles (may include forklift), hand/power tools, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment. The position requires the ability to troubleshoot and to sequence tasks as well as schedule, assign and direct work of others in HVAC maintenance activities.
