The Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office consists of a four-memberCommand Staff, an Administrative Services Division and an Operations Division.
The Administrative Services Divisionresponsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining the Records ofthe Sheriff's Office, as well as the serving of: civil processes, ProtectionOrders, Writs of Restitution & Evictions; responding to Public DisclosureRequests & processing/issuing Concealed Pistol Licenses & FirearmsDealer Licenses.
TheSupport Services Clerk I performs a variety of clerical work of moderatedifficulty and complexity including operating a multi-line phone system,helping patrons visiting the office for both the Sheriff's and ProsecutingAttorney's Office, receipting money, filing/composing letters, entering trainingdata and produce training certificates for all Sheriff's Office staff/deputies,perform monthly validations in ACCESS and assist/backup for Concealed PistolLicensing and Public Records Requests as needed, gathering data, supportingrecords unit and civil unit functions.
MinimumQualifications ·Must be a minimumof 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
·Must have UnitedState citizenship or a lawful permanent resident who can read and write theEnglish language.
·Mustsatisfactorily pass a Civil Service approved written examination and oral boardinterview.
·Mustsatisfactorily pass a record check, background investigation and drug screening.
·Musthave no record of felony conviction.
·Musthave no record of gross misdemeanor/misdemeanor conviction for crime involvingcontrolled substances or physical harm.
·Mustpossess, or have the ability to obtain prior to employment, a valid Oregon orWashington State Driver's License.
Preferred Qualification: ·Bilingualin Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
The Successful Candidate Shall: ·Haveexcellent interpersonal and effective communication skills in working with Sheriff'sOffice patrons and other staff members.
·Demonstratestrong organizational skills.
·Demonstratetechnology literacy, including database management, use of spreadsheets andword documents.
·Demonstrateflexibility in the various demands of the position and effective timemanagement.
·Demonstratea high level of accuracy and close attention to detail.
·Demonstratethe ability to be confidential.
·Beable to work additional hours as requested.
·Beable to demonstrate the ability to handle various crisis situations with thepublic who enter the office.
Responsible to:ChiefCivil Deputy Salaryand Benefits:$18.80 - $25.19 an hour (2024), Non-Exempt, Benefitsapply, Walla Walla Sheriff Administrative Support Employees-Teamsters LocalUnion No. 839. •County pays $1,500 per month towards medical, dental, vision, life insuranceand employee assistance program for employee and eligible familymembers.
