Department: Engineering & Innovation Location: Lakeland, Florida Position Description Saddle Creek Logistics Services is seeking a Sr. Data Science Analyst in Lakeland, FL. This position will be part of a team aligning data across our network. The Sr. Data Science Analyst will immediately contribute to the design and delivery of standard KPI metrics, dashboards, and data curation to enable operational performance improvement. The Analyst, Data Science will also support reporting and analysis for warehouse locations. Over time, responsibilities will encompass data stewardship, business intelligence, data analytics, and data science. Success will require developing a deep understanding of our business operations and stakeholder needs to develop effective data products and decision science tools. Responsibilities Works in Databricks to extract and analyze data using SQL and Python Develops or enhances knowledge about third party logistics and/or warehouse, fulfillment, and transportation operations, including hands-on time in the warehouse Identifies projects, define metrics, and create data products (dashboards, reports, machine learning models, etc.) in line with the company strategic initiatives Work with cross-functional support and operations teams across the organization Builds and maintains analytical infrastructure Studies thought leadership in data science, data engineering, and data governance Ensure data standardization and data integrity across the organization for all customers, including data cataloguing Creates SOPs, work instructions, and other documentation as needed Contribute to strategic and operational analysis, to include interfacing with stakeholders, defining questions, sourcing and cleaning the data, modeling, deploying, and maintaining solutions in support of Saddle Creek decision makers Assist as needed with training of "Citizen Data Scientists" from throughout the organization, both in data quality and data analysis Monitor results of data products throughout lifecycle and refresh as necessary Facilitate enterprise data quality programs and standards May create ad hoc reports and contribute to other duties, projects as needed Leads and trains other analyst and intern roles Qualifications Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Data Science, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering required; Master's Degree preferred Formal coursework in data science subject areas required (data mining, machine learning, business analytics, optimization, econometrics, probability) 5+ years of experience related to data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting Previous Databricks experience a strong plus Previous experience in the logistics field a strong plus Exposure to product management or project management preferred High School Diploma/GED Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience working with business intelligence tools/software to analyze data (MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) Experience creating data-related products (ex: machine learning models, dashboards, reports, Excel tools, app, and/or algorithms) Coding/scripting knowledge in SQL and Python required Environment management in Python a plus Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills; must be able to multi-task, problem solve, prioritize and work under pressure Ability to work with a wide range of cross-functional teams, such operations, engineering, IT, and finance, and is as comfortable with interpersonal interactions as with code Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) and present information to stakeholders Ability to influence without authority, build strong connections across departments and throughout operations Databricks certifications a plus Databricks experience required #LI-AR1 Benefits: Benefits package including medical, dental, vision, HSA, and medical reimbursement Annual bonus eligibility 401(k) match Vacation and holiday pay Employee assistance and identity theft protection Career development and opportunity for internal promotions Tuition reimbursement for further education Company paid life insurance and short term disability Saddle Creek is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
