Job Description and Responsibilities The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for supervising shipping employees in a manufacturing environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvement in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Ensure effective employee relations; provide employee coaching and development Makes employment decisions and resolves employee issues through effective problem resolution Balance safety, quality, service, and cost to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas through lean tools Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to plant manager Assists in developing and monitoring standardized work for direct reports and adhere to Leader Standard Work for your position Audits or assigns audit duties for key result areas (e.g., quality, safety, scrap) Holds daily cell meeting and set expectations for the day Monitors production status hourly, remove bottlenecks and take corrective measures to ensure outcomes Oversees continuous flow and materials delivery systems and works with associates to continuously improve the process Cros trains and develops associates to improve/expand skills and bench strength Reviews production schedules and estimate associate hours to complete a job assignment Interprets specifications and job orders for associates and delegates duties Recommends measures and changes to improve processes, equipment, product quality and working conditions Track employee attendance, performance and adherence to safety practices Cross train in production control Train and assure proper orientation of scanning tools, as well as, shipping tools Manage the reconciliation of customer returns, overstock inventory and allocation Required Education and Experience BS Degree in Operations, Engineering or related field is preferred Equivalent experience considered 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing plant Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook) Experience in a lean manufacturing facility (JIT) Skills and Qualifications Must be a team player Strong analytical abilities Possess effective communication abilities Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively Great interpersonal skills Analyzing information to make decisions and influence results Situational awareness of factory interdependencies to facilitate timely and meaningful decisions and actions for resource allocation (labor and materials) Minimum Hiring Requirements
