The Role: Responsible for packing and shipping for the panel department
As the Shipper, you will join our Panel Department and support. Your Responsibilities: Designs and builds proper shipping containers. Loads products, parts, or merchandise into designated packages, boxes, or crates. Uses various saws, banding and other packaging equipment, pneumatic staple guns, box closers/cutters and hand tools to package products for shipment. Works with Forklift, Hand Truck and / or Pull Truck to arrange for the transportation of products; may use overhead crane. Operates machines preparing products for shipment, use of label, UPS LTL shipment programs. Reviews packing lists to ensure all required items are included, using foam, plastic, or other materials to pack containers. Other duties as assigned through identified and established process improvements. Requirements: May be required to cross train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the department working at different workstations as production needs require. Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; training and teaching others. Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials. Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)is preferred; with six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with production processes, machines/ tools. Must have basic knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, in word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals. Ability and understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications. Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. Work requires continual heavy lifting of 50 lbs. or more.
