Responsibilities
• Facilitate adoption of evidence-based blood pressure measurement practices• Assist with public health surveys• Coordinate and assist with blood pressure, nutrition security, and tobacco screening and referrals• Help assess community member barriers to healthcare access and potential solutions• Deliver health education on heart health related topics• Help identify and collaborate with local resources and organizations• Support patients/community members in navigating care and resources• Launch learning collaboratives for health or community centers• Plan and conduct local health skill building workshops and events• Cultivate and manage volunteer clubs in local schools or community organizations• Educate community groups on hands-only CPR• Participate in AmeriCorps orientation and assigned trainings
Requirements
• At least 18 years of age• Have a high school diploma or equivalent• United States citizen, national, or a lawful permanent resident alien• Reliable transportation• Strong written and oral communication skills• Passion for health equity and promoting health in rural America• Ability to work in a team environment and independently• Good listener, non-judgmental, open-minded, and resourceful• Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria• Experience or coursework in public health, health communications, or health sciences preferred• Some host sites may require proof of vaccination for Covid-19 or other immunizations
