Full job description Server and Storage Manager Judicial Information Services, State Court Administrative Office Salary: $90,368.64 - $119,287.44 If you are a highly skilled and passionate IT professional looking for opportunities to grow your career and knowledge, look no further than the Michigan Supreme Court. The Server and Storage Manager will oversee the Server and Storage team in delivering server, storage, and related infrastructure services to MSC, SCAO and Trial Courts. Plan, organize and manage both technology and people to deliver these services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In consultation with division leadership, develop tactical plans based on the MSC and SCAO strategic plans. Direct and coordinate activities of the network team to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget. • Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies. Design and execute short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity and technology meets current and future needs. Collaborate with other to determine day-to-day support of server, storage, and data center environments. Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server and storage hardware and software. Ensure server and storage security and compliance with industry standards and organization policies. Manage and optimize storage solutions including SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) systems and data protection. Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and maximize resource utilization in ensure high availability. Implement and manage server backup, recovery solutions, and monitoring tools. Negotiate with outsourcers, vendors, and contractors for infrastructure-specific products and services. Serve as a technical advisor to trial courts, the Supreme Court and SCAO management on matters of information technology. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (IF NECESSARY)
Be available 24x7x365 to respond to service outages.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical field.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT Network systems and Infrastructure roles including leading/supervising technical teams' environment.
KNOWLEDGE
Comprehensive knowledge of server and storage management tools in a large-scale enterprise environment. In-depth knowledge of server and storage hardware, operating systems and technologies. Thorough familiarity of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Proficient knowledge of backup and recovery solutions. Knowledge of server and storage security best practices and compliance standards. Knowledge of cloud and on-premises environments. Proficient knowledge of enterprise system monitoring and planning for growth. Knowledge with Disaster Recovery, Security Recovery, and Business Continuity Strong knowledge of ITIL and ITSM practices ABILITY
Lead and motivate others Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Provide excellent customer service, problem solving and conflict resolution. Evaluate multiple options before facilitating the solution to a problem. Apply critical thinking skills to determine the appropriateness of requests. Work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Work during non-standard business hours and weekends as needed. Manage electrical and air handling systems in a data center. LICENSING / PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION (PREFERRED)
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (MCSE) SolarWinds Certified Professional • VMWare Certified Technical Associate – Network Virtualization (VCTA-NV) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment; Lift and transport materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Occasional in-state travel.
WORK LOCATION: Official work-site location is the Hall of Justice, Lansing, Michigan. Remote work may be available in accordance with the MSC/SCAO Remote Work Policy.
