Details of the offer

Kids spend most of their days in the classroom. And teachers and staff, who play a vital role in their development, are often the first to notice when something is off. But with 1 in 5 young people struggling with mental health, schools are getting crushed by a downward spiral in student crises and staff burnout. With large increases in federal funding for schools and the rise of telehealth, schools are reimagining what mental health support can look like. Cartwheel is a trusted mental health partner to schools, students, and families.. We see our role as supporting on-campus counselors, psychologists, and school social workers who see kids every day. Instead of going around them, we collaborate with them. This means: Earlier interventionHigher student and family engagement in careBetter coordination among the trusted adults in a student's life Kids shouldn't just aspire to get out of bed and drag themselves to class. They should be able to experience joy. They deserve to envision and build a life they're excited to live. If you join Cartwheel, you'll help make this vision a reality for millions of students across the country. We're backed by top investors including Menlo Ventures, Reach Capital, General Catalyst, BoxGroup, and Able Partners, and we're looking for mission-driven teammates to join our team.ABOUT THE ROLEAs a Senior Product Designer at Cartwheel, you'll use design to drive business outcomes and move with urgency to ensure our products are trusted by schools, students, and families. You'll be a core member of the R&D team helping Cartwheel deliver excellent tech-enabled care and transform how schools deliver care for their staff, students, and families. WHAT YOU'LL DOProduct Design: The product team has two key focus areas (1. Growth & Retention and 2. Quality & Efficiency) and owns metrics related to each. You'll contribute design work directly to projects related to these. Potential focus areas include:School experience: Schools need to see Cartwheel as a trusted partner in every interaction they have with us. You'll make it easy for new schools to launch, ensure school staff experience insightful interactions with our team, and improve our web-app for school district administrators with a focus on tracking clinical outcomes to make data-driven decisions about their school district's mental health.Clinical experience: Clinicians are at the core of our product. You'll design an intuitive, easy onboarding experience for clinicians joining our platform, and you'll eliminate administrative tasks that get in the way of clinicians providing high-quality care for students and families.   Students and families: Students and families deserve access to the care they need as soon as they need it. You'll help students and families book their first session right away, be thoughtfully matched to an excellent clinician, and feel informed and engaged throughout treatment. (Example workflow improvements include accessibility, parental consent, scheduling, asynchronous messaging, and coordination with external providers.)User Research: Connect with our core users to build empathy and drive user-centered design work. You'll get to know school staff and administrators as our target customers so you deeply understand and anticipate their needs and expectations. You'll connect with clinicians and other key internal users to understand how they support kids and schools and how design and technology can supercharge this.Design Systems: Collaborate with the design team to continue building our design system and with engineering to deliver high-impact, highly usable experiences. You'll contribute to our existing design framework and will work closely with the design team to critique and improve our collective design output. You'll closely collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing. WHO YOU ARE Aligned with our values: Human, Humble, Accountable, Innovative, Resilient5+ years of product design experienceBackground in Human Centered Design, Design Methods, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or related field is a major plusTrack record of designing products from inception to delivery and talent for creating beautiful, easy to use experiencesTrack record of taking design risks – you see opportunities others don't and are not afraid to pursue themOutput orientation – you bring a sense of urgency around putting products out and learning from customers through rapid iteration Ability to quickly build authentic, trusting relationships and influence a diverse teamCuriosity – your goal is to find the right answer, not to be right.
