We are seeking Resident Advisors for our Supervised Independent Living Program.  I. JOB SUMMARY
A Supervised Independent Living (SIL) Resident Advisor (R.A.) promotes the well-being of youth living on campus as part of the agency's SIL program by providing supervision and support, teaching of life skills identified and documented by the Life Skills Coach, and completing record keeping functions. The R.A., in conjunction with the SIL Supervisor, provides day-to-day guidance and assistance to residents, in a safe and secure environment.
II. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide leadership, guidance, and support to residents by teaching independent living skills and using agency approved methods of de-escalation and crisis intervention as necessary. Care for residents at all times; assess common areas to ensure safety of youth; assist residents with daily life activities; monitor youth participation with community resources for the benefit of youth's employment, education, mentorship, and volunteerism. Complete all necessary paperwork, logs, critical incidents, and monthly reports. Participate in regular supervision, staff meetings, in-service training and other agency meetings as required. Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHS's mission and vision. Perform other related duties as assigned. Education/ Experience High school diploma or equivalent 1 - 3 years of experience working in human services with serious emotional disorder (SED) at-risk youth males between the ages of 16 – 19 preferred. Valid driver's license in the state of Michigan. Basic independent living skills.  Relate to youth to gain their respect and confidence.
