The Ray Lab at Benaroya Research Institute (BRI) in Seattle, WA is seeking a highly-motivated Research Technician. The Ray lab studies how human genetic variation and epigenetic states of immune cells alter susceptibility to autoimmune diseases. The lab performs large-scale genomic experiments using CRISPR-mediated silencing of active regions of the genome, DNA base editing, massively parallel reporter assays, and other methodologies to find regions of the genome that promote risk for disease.
The duties of this position potentially include:
• Prepare progress reports including gathering, organizing, and interpreting data and preparing data for presentations and manuscripts.
• Perform computational analysis of genomic sequencing data.
• Maintain laboratory records by recording detailed data, including photography and computer input, in a literate and thorough manner.
• Conduct literature search and read literature applicable to research area.
• Conduct lab inventory, complete purchase orders for hardware, glassware, and supplies.
• Operating a variety of laboratory instruments such as spectrometers, electrophoresis radiation counters, PCR machines, measuring instruments and devices.
• Performing chemical, physical, or biological assays following written protocols.
• Working with mice, including immunizations and viral infections.
• Preparing fractionated samples from blood using sterile technique.
• Lentivirus preparation and infection of cells.
• Preparing fractionated samples from blood using sterile techniques.
• Antibody staining of cells and flow cytometry.
BA/BS in a scientific field and basic laboratory skills required. Applicants must have strong mathematical, computer, data analysis, and statistical analysis skills. They must have good verbal and writing skills, and have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
$21.29 to $30.22 per hour
