Overview
The prime objective of the Plant Reliability Engineer is to increase equipment life and reliability by improving equipment condition, using advanced tools such as vibration analysis and predictive/preventative maintenance techniques, and recommend operational, maintenance, and process changes so as to maximize equipment reliability and life expectancy.
Coordinate the Inspection Program.
Administer the Preventative and Predictive Maintenance program and review on a regular basis, the quality of inspection checklists and their frequency.
Coordinate and participate in vibration analysis activities, oil analysis, non-destructive testing, ultrasonic activities, infrared activities and all other advanced detection activities as required.
Conduct personal special equipment inspections on mill liners, symetros, drives and the clinker cooler including critical welds using dye penetrate and magnetic particle techniques.
Supervise oil management program to ensure that all lubrication efforts including sampling, is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with plant requirements.
Develop reliable and cost effective lubrication strategies aimed at maximizing equipment life and reliability.
Ensure that environmentally friendly use, reuse and disposal of lubrication materials is performed.
Record and analyze reports from all maintenance activities in an effort to ensure that all necessary repairs are planned and executed prior to deterioration of equipment and to maximize equipment reliability, make use of available resources and minimize costs.
Interface with Maintenance and Operations to schedule and prioritize inspections and repair work and identify any equipment problems, which may be impacting the process negatively.
Manage equipment history records in order to provide feedback on work orders, information for preventative and predictive maintenance activities, and to provide environmental compliance assurance documentation.
Conduct studies as needed in order to increase equipment reliability while reducing maintenance costs, recommend modifications or replacements in order to increase reliability, and design out problems when reviewing proposed capital or major maintenance projects.
The Reliability Engineer may be asked to provide relief coverage for other members of the maintenance or production department and be on-call to cover mechanical problems which occur evenings and weekends.
Provide leadership to the organization in the implementation of maintenance tools, systems and organization.
Develop and maintain a set of maintenance standards to be used as a guide by the plant; advise plants of possible maintenance problems, which should be addressed, on a regular basis.
Provide leadership to the organization in the research of the fundamentals behind reliability.
Interface with vendors and consultants on proposals for maintenance systems.
Be the champion of total quality/total reliability.
Ensure that vendors supply necessary insurance certification prior to coming on sight to perform work under his supervision.
Skills & Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering Degree and possess at least 3 years' experience in a related industry.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to work as a part of a team to ensure continuous improvement in their functional area as well as the overall plant operations.
Must be able to meet on-call responsibilities in a 24/7 operation.
Must have good leadership skills.
Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.).
Reliability focused certifications and experience with a CMMS system such as MAXIMO preferred
