Birdsboro Quarry , a division of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a Railroad Conductor/Laborer to c oordinate the operation of railroad locomotives, cars, and switching procedures in a safe and responsible manner, and support general labor activities in the yard to achieve daily production goals. Feels and listens to operate equipment most efficiently
Cleans equipment as needed
Ensures equipment is safely and securely parked and stored
Maintains equipment by greasing properly and checking fluids daily (oils, coolant, fuel level)
Performs daily checks on equipment to ensure proper operating condition
Must perform daily work place safety exam if Brakeman/utility is not available
Notifies General Foreman of Railroad Operations of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
O ther duties as assigned Required Skills, Education, and Experience Prior railroad experience Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered Training available based on balance of technical skills/experience, focus on safety, learning agility, and time management Verbal and written communication skills Problem solving and prioritization skills Basic computer skills Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution Machinery knowledge Experience operating heavy equipment Strong preference for Loader operation experience Experience working in a quarry, rail yard, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial setting MSHA, FRA, and/or BMHKK RR or other relevant safety certification or experience Physical Demands Regularly required to Stand Walk Frequently required to Sit Use hands to finger, handle, or feel Reach with hands and arms T alk or hear Occasionally required to l ift and/or move up to 100 pounds Specific vision abilities include Distance Peripheral Depth perception Work Environment Regularly exposed to: Outside weather conditions Vibration Moving parts Frequently exposed to f umes and airborne particles Noise level is usually loud Birdsboro Quarry (formerly Birdsboro Materials) has been a regional leader in the production of high-quality construction aggregate since it opened for business in 2000.
