The Program Specialist is responsible for planning and maintaining classes for all levels of Emergency Medical Services in both Academic Affairs and Continuing Education. It is expected that the Program Specialist be familiar with various formats for delivering education and has the ability to transform existing curricula into alternative formats. Finally, the Program Specialist will be responsible for considering additional EMS certificates/curricula and communicating industry needs to the relevant Program Director/Developer. The work schedule for this position will typically be Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Lead- regardless of title, through positive influence. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Project manage continuing education for EMS professions, including the development of some basic CEU courses. Coordinate day-to-day management of existing and new EMS courses, including communication with credit and non-credit instructors. Coordinate and assist with practicals for all levels of EMS (may become obsolete depending on state and national requirements). Collaborate and communicate with EMS instructors to provide technical assistance. Ensure all state and national requirements are met by our EMR, EMT, & AEMT instructors and students (example= Student Minimum Competencies, AMANDA portal, fingerprint packets, etc.) Collaborate with the department's Salesperson to implement community EMS courses as requested by communities in the 7-county region. Investigate the implementation of CPAT exam for our fire industry partners. Participate in Simulation Technician activities if needed. This position will require some teaching based on the applicant's credentials. Collaborate with the Program Developer for AHA to learn the intricacies of ancillary credentials for EMS providers, e.g., ACLS, PALS, PEPP, PHTLS, etc. Perform other related work duties as assigned. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have own transportation to travel to businesses and agencies, meet with College and community personnel and clients. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned EMS (EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic) provider (state or national credential). Two (2) years of EMS experience and/or relevant project management experience. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Earned credential as an EMS provider. Instructor endorsement as determined by the State of Iowa Department of Public Health. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS : Advanced-level (AEMT or Paramedic) EMS provider (state or national credential). Bachelor's degree in related field. Ability to navigate technology in multiple formats. Previous teaching history. Instructor & Evaluator endorsements as determined by the State of Iowa Department of Public Health. EEO/AA STATEMENT:
