JOB SUMMARY
Processes mainframe jobs, controls production and monitors associated equipment for Salt Lake County and Information Technology (IT) organization. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or other closely related field, plus two (2) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Handles the central console or online terminals for the processing of data Monitors and controls a computer console to process and complete jobs. Monitors system consoles and performs operator preventive maintenance on peripheral equipment. Operates mainframe computers and computer-related equipment. Handles moderately complex troubleshooting techniques. Maintains a continuous production level. Completes logs concerning machine utilization, reruns, and finished production work. Resolves problems and works with other teams to ensure 24×7×365 missions-critical applications availability, reliability and performance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA) Knowledge of: Mainframe systems, operations, programs, processes, procedures and protocols Data processing terminology procedures County's mainframe systems including but not limited to online payroll and tax processing Job Control Language (JCL) and CICS Control processing Off-line and peripheral equipment operation and maintenance Ticketing system and escalation protocols Performing backups, restores and refreshes Microsoft Office Skills and Abilities to: Communicate effectively orally and in writing Listen and understand, disseminate information and ideas Think logically and systematically; solve complex problems; effectively apply general principles to specific conditions Analyze business and technical processes and determine ways of making them more efficient Remain calm under stress Quickly adjust, evolve and multi-task between several competing priorities at once Maintain confidentiality and professionalism Benefits of working as a Production Specialist in Salt Lake City, UT:
