Job Summary Responsible for informing prospective degree candidates about Harvard Extension School (HES) program offerings, providing comprehensive guidance on the School's distinctive admission process, and reading and processing applications for admission to the HES undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Position Description Through e-mail, synchronous video sessions, and phone conversations, the Advisor engages with current HES students to discuss their course choices, evaluates their specific admission and degree requirement needs, provides accurate and timely responses to student inquiries, and offers supportive counseling to facilitate students' successful application submission and admission.
In addition, on a seasonal basis for multiple weeks at a time, the Advisor reviews and processes applications for admission to the School's undergraduate and graduate degree programs; throughout the year, actively contributes to the coordination and implementation of both in-person and virtual informational events and outreach initiatives; engages in ongoing professional development activities; and fulfills additional responsibilities as required.
Basic Qualifications 5 or more years of job-related experience in an educational setting Education beyond high school may count toward experience Additional Qualifications and Skills Master's degree preferred. A positive attitude toward customer service is necessary, as is the ability to act with composure, diplomacy, and confidence while serving students with varied needs and expectations. Excellent communication skills are expected, as well as comfort with public speaking and experience and interest in offering support to remote students. Strong candidates may be evaluated through video interviews and a writing exercise.
