Education and experience requirements:   These requirements are at the discretion of the Board of Directors but include 3-5 years of related experience. Duties: Oversees the safe and effective operation of the manufacturing facility. In the absence of the safety director, leads the joint safety committee as per established procedures ensuring that safety items are addressed in a timely manner.  Reviews all accidents and near misses to ensure that proper investigation and follow up was taken for each incident. Ensures that production requirements are met, including necessary staffing. Oversees the processing of production work orders.  Coordinates scheduling/planning meetings with the Production Manager to ensure proper prioritization and operation of production departments. Engineering Routes, Rates and Scrap. Responsible for production using methods per the engineered routes in accordance with established procedures or as directed by executive management. Participates in the on-going management review of production rates and standard scrap with the continual goal of improving throughput while maintaining required quality. Ensures that all work orders are processed in accordance with engineered standards. Provides for investigation of off standard conditions per established criteria. Issues an internal request for corrective action when warranted by encountered production quality problems. Attends Material Review Board meetings and is a member of the Management Review Team. Supervises production management personnel. Must be able to perform the functions of production supervisors during periods of absence. Oversees departmental staffing requirements and coordinates with supervisors the scheduling of personnel in accordance with production needs, involving the Production Manager. Conducts annual performance reviews with supervisors and makes changes to the supervisor's job functions as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the plant. Responsible for review of variance reports with department supervisors to effect corrective action, as necessary, for off schedule, low rate, and high scrap conditions. Responsible for knowing and enforcing all company rules, regulations, and policies.  Consults with VP Operations, HR Manager, or other executive management as appropriate when interpretation of said rules, regulations and policies is required. Recommends changes or updates to company rules, regulations and policies when necessary. Responsible for following CBA with regard to labor relations and responses to grievances with support from Executive Management. Skills Requirements: Highly developed sense of integrity and reliability. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbal and writing. Detail oriented and has good listening skills. Ability to deliver suggestions for improvement and/or criticism in a constructive manner. Has strong analytical and decision making capabilities. Has a strong work ethic and team player mentality. May be assigned any other miscellaneous duties as required by the supervisor and/or executive management.
