Responsibilities
• Procure and distribute drug orders according to policies and protocols• Have all work checked by a pharmacist before leaving the pharmacy• Stay aware of developments in pharmacy and healthcare• Maintain knowledge of drug names, medication order interpretation, etc.• Prevent medication errors and perform pharmaceutical calculations• Provide orientation and training to new team members• Comply with laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice• Have knowledge of Pyxis reports and experience with Pyxis• Handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changing workload and schedule• Solve problems and set priorities
Requirements
• High school graduate or GED• 1-2 years of college or technical school preferred• Professional Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred• PTCB certification required within 12 months of hire• 0-1 years of experience required, 3-5 years hospital experience preferred• Ability to work accurately with attention to detail• Strong organizational skills are mandatory• Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff• Good written and verbal communication skills required• Basic computer skills required
