Responsibilities
• Communicates with members of the health care team, patients, and visitors using oral and written means.• Maintains management of practitioner's daily, weekly, and monthly calendar• Greets patients in a courteous, helpful way and informs practitioner of patient's arrival• Arranges for efficient and orderly admission/registration of patients• Obtains prior authorization from patients insurance company when required• Ensures accurate and complete personal and financial history is obtained on each patient/guarantor• Schedule and confirm patient appointments• Maintain the confidentiality of the patient record• Understands the hospital financial policy, Conditions of Admission, and Release of Information and explains this to patients• Is able to review financial and patient history on a specific account and make corrections to the account if necessary
Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent• At least 1 year experience, in an acute care setting, with record maintenance, reception, telephone skills, and written communication• Computer literacy• Knowledge of medical terminology• Within 6 months of hire completes the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training course• Preferred• Prior billing, collection, and scheduling experience
