Your Specific Responsibilities: The Building Operations Specialist is highly independent position that requires the ability to prioritize work, balance responsibilities without direct supervision. Must be flexible to accommodate frequent changes in priorities and ensure that supervisor is aware of any difficulties in meeting deadlines well ahead of deadlines. Under the supervision of the head of General Services, this a pivotal position and interface between the Martin County Health Department, Martin County General Services and vendors providing maintenance, repair, renovation service to create the safe, efficient, comfortable, and secure environment that our clients, staff, and visitors deserve. Works independently and must effectively manage time and effort.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Maintenance/Surveillance duties. Performs and documents inspections and routine operational and safety surveillance, including biomedical waste, of Indiantown and Stuart facilities to proactively identify maintenance, repair and other issues that must be acted upon.
Coordinates with Martin County to proactively address trouble tickets and initiate projects for repair, renovation, or restoration.
Conducts inventories as directed and ensures that equipment is proactively serviced to avoid downtime or loss. Conducts or ensures that all procurement activities for equipment management are completed in a timely manner.
Member of the Safety Committee
Planning/Renovation/Restoration duties Meets routinely with leadership and stakeholders to come to consensus on operational projects or renovations. Communicates routinely, both verbally and in writing on the status of all projects to all levels of the agency and partners. Works collaboratively with staff and leadership to coordinate department moves or changes, disaster response and/or other events that affect the facility.
Maintains timely status reports including all current and pending trouble tickets and projects ensuring that they are readily available for use by staff to plan operations.
Oversees all renovation and restoration activities to ensure that the objectives of the project are being met and that cost and/or time overruns are not occurring. Communicates status regularly to supervisor and leadership.
Procurement duties This position prepares or assists with the preparation of all procurement documentation for repairs and projects. This includes duty includes drafting scopes of work, drawing rough plans, communicating with vendors, obtaining quotes, creating purchase orders per DOH requirements and ensuring that all procurement documentation is closed and paid in a timely manner.
Various duties May participate in projects for improvements of all types as a part of our Performance Improvement program.
Provides assistance with vehicle pool operation.
Performs other related work as directed by supervisor, including but not limited to, assisting other departments/work units including outreach if required.
Qualifications: Minimum:
Have  one year in construction, building management, or safety Have a valid driver's license Willing to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of projects managed Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.    Preferred:
